It used to be quite rare to see Craigellachie single malt whisky officially bottled. But after years of waiting, in 2014, there were four of them! The seventeen year old expression really shows the meaty spirit of this Speysider - top notch stuff.
Nose: apple crumble, melon and raisins. Honeyed barley, a little hint of smoke and vanilla ice cream.
Mouth: opens very sweetly with pineapple and custard cream, although the fleshiness soon shows. There's more smoke on the palate than on the nose, with hints of cloves and oak.
Finish: waxy and smoky finish.
