The fifth edition of Johnnie Walker's Ghost and Rare limited edition series celebrates Glasgow's famous Port Dundas grain distillery, which closed its doors in 2010 and spawned its spirits.
Known for its distinctive sweet and fragrant character, Port Dundas was one of the world's most famous grain whisky distilleries. Master blender Emma Walker has hand-selected whiskies to complement Port Dundas and showcase the true character of the defunct "Ghost" distillery.
The creamy, woody notes of Port Dundas have been complemented by subtly smoky whiskies with vanilla from two other defunct Cambus distilleries and original stock from Brora, along with five exceptionally rare single malts selected from Johnnie Walker's extensive Blue Label reserves.
Nose: stewed apple dusted with cinnamon and rich vanilla cream. Notes of fresh apricots mingle with subtle oak spice.
Palate: elegant smoke and woody vanilla, while creamy grain and honey cereal balance the warmth of baker's spice.
Finish: poached orchard fruit follows, along with notes of fruit crumble with a pinch of ginger.
