Bowmore 12YO is produced in one of Scotland's most famous whisky regions - the Isle of Islay. Infused with the sea salt of the local winds, the smoky peat and honeyed sweetness of the flowers, it reflects the very essence of the island's strong drinks, created by its unique natural environment and outstanding team of distillers.
Distinctive and unique in its flavour characteristics, Bowmore 12YO single malt whisky is well balanced and moderately complex. When you smell its aroma, which is dominated by peat smoke and sea saltiness, complemented by sweet notes of heather and lemon, you will immediately realise that this is an Islay whisky.
The flavour is light and slightly oily with a very slight alcoholic note. Here, the initial saltiness of the sea notes gives way to honeyed floral and fruity notes with a little sharpness that creates a brief ash sensation and finishes with a long smooth smoky peaty aftertaste.
To date, Bowmore 12YO is one of the most famous and best-selling whiskies in the world. It has won gold and silver medals at prestigious international competitions. In 2014 alone, the whisky won silver awards at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and the International Spirits Challenge.
Whisky is interesting both on its own and as a component of cocktails. A great accompaniment to it is a cigar.
